Hypnotherapy is a skilled communication aimed at directing a person’s imagination in a way that helps elicit changes in some perceptions, sensations, feelings, thoughts and behaviours.

A hypnotherapist will listen to you, to fully understand what changes you are looking to achieve, before discussing and agreeing a treatment plan with you. The course of treatment will be explained fully to you during the initial consultation.

Hypnotherapy is not something that is done to you rather it is something done with you.  It is a collaborative relationship built on trust so that a ‘trance like state’ can be reached.  This trance like state provides you with access to your subconscious mind that will help you enormously identify the changes you are looking to achieve.

The trance like state reached during hypnotherapy replicates REM, a very natural and restorative part of how the mind works.  Working with a hypnotherapist will allow you to access this trance like state more easily and for longer periods of time, providing you with the clarity and sense of calm necessary to make the changes you are looking to achieve.

Hypnotherapy has been found to be highly effective in dealing with a vast array of issues such as stress, anxiety and panic attacks, obsessive compulsive (OCD) and generalised anxiety (GAD) disorders, fears and phobias, sleep difficulties, weight loss (including Virtual Gastric Band), self-esteem and self-confidence and eliminating bad habits and addictions (including Quit Smoking) and so much more.

Hypnotherapy sessions usually last approximately 1 hour. Some hypnotherapists will offer 90 minute sessions.

Brett provides a free 45min initial consultation as an opportunity for you to understand more about Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, how he works and assure yourself that he is the right therapist for you.  Each session thereafter is 60mins.  There is ‘no one size fits all’ so the duration of treatment can vary however, if you are serious about change and invested in the changes you are looking to achieve then it is possible that, in just a short number of sessions, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help you identify the positive choices available towards that better version of you; confident, in control and joyful.

Hypnotherapy can often be a relatively short process. This will depend on you as an individual and the complexity of your presenting issue. Some issues such as Quit Smoking, some phobias, minor confidence issues and general relaxation could be resolved in as few as 1 or 2 sessions. Most clients find that after 3 or 4 sessions they can be back on track with new found confidence and a sense of wellbeing.

The proposed number of sessions will be discussed in advance with the hypnotherapist and reviewed after every session.
